Globally important plant functional traits for coping with climate change

The last decade has seen a proliferation of studies that use plant functional traits to assess how plants respond climate change. However, it remains unclear whether there is global set can predict plants’ ability cope or even thrive when exposed varying manifestations We conducted systematic review which identified 148 common across biomes best positive responses multiple changes and associated environmental changes.  Eight key appear climate/environmental biomes: lower higher specific leaf area (SLA), height, greater water-use efficiency (WUE), resprouting ability, relative growth rate, clonality/bud banks/below-ground storage, wood density, rooting depth. Trait attributes with relatively consistent within changes, except for SLA where both trait are response depending on the biome change considered.  Overall, our findings illustrate important general trait-climate between help us understand phenotypes may under current future
